The 2018 model year has been a major one for Nissan, with the debut of the all-new Kicks crossover SUV and the LEAF. There have also been several announcements along the way. One of which is the announcement that ProPILOT Assist technology has been expanded to more 2019 Nissan models. With that said, which new Nissan cars and SUVs can you expect to be available with the technology? The new feature will now be available on the 2019 Rogue, Rogue Sport, Kicks, LEAF and Altima. ProPILOT Assist is also currently available on select 2018 Nissan Kicks and LEAF models.
What is Nissan ProPILOT Assist?
This innovative technology works with the Nissan’s forward-facing radar, sensors and electronic control module in order to help the vehicle stay in the center of the driving lane and maintain space between other vehicles. Thanks to the system’s multi-faceted approach, it reduces the number of responses required by the driver and instead, acts autonomously. For example, by reducing the speed of the vehicle automatically when traffic slows ahead.
In fact, the ProPILOT Assist technology can complete several functions, including acceleration, steering and braking. This means you don’t have to turn cruise control off and on again when you encounter slow traffic. ProPILOT Assist does it for you in a smooth, seamless way. While the technology is autonomous in nature, drivers still must have their hands on the steering wheel at all times.
